Next month’s Digital Editors’ Network meeting is offering some expert legal help.
Posting on the group’s Facebook page, Nick Turner said media law experts from Wiggin LLP will look at the legal risks newspapers and media organisations take as they expand on to an ever increasing array of new media platforms.
“Blogs, comment boards, forums, digital archives, links to third party content and the speed of breaking news online are all providing us with fresh legal challenges as we straddle the divide between traditional media and online communities.”
Caroline Kean, Wiggin’s head of litigation, will lead the discussion at the Digital Editors’ Network meeting at UCLan in Preston.
As is usual for DEN meetings, those attending also get the opportunity to attend the Journalism Leaders Forum held in the evening where the panel debate will be on a topic on everyone’s minds at the moment;
“Hard Lessons: What are the tough times teaching media decision-makers about the way forward?”
The Digital Editors’ Network on October 7th will also include a showcase of new ideas from around the regional media. More details on that to be posted soon.
